Are you guys familiar with the New Jersey progressive metal scene and would you consider playing somewhere close to Bayonne, N.J.
We've played in Amvoy, NJ (I think) at Club Bene with Fates Warning. That was back in August (I think). We're working on doing another tour with Fates Warning in December, and I'd imagine that we'd be playing if not Club Bene again, probably someplace in NY. We'll post these dates as we here them, so check back with the page, and we'll probably be sending out a mass e-mail once we do finalize them.
Thanks for writing!

First I'd like to say I just picked up your CD and am enjoying it. Good stuff. My question is. I heard about you through a review in Heavens Metal magazine. I was wondering if there are Christians in the band? I take it there are from the review being in HM, but I thought I'd ask since nothing was stated on the webpage. Thanks, angelahilton@hotmail.com
Two members of the band (Chris and Gary) are very religious. Gary even taught Sunday school at his chuch for several years. The rest of the band members are Christian but not quite as devout as Gary and Chris.
Thanks for writing!
JasonP.S. I'll refer your question to Gary and Chris to see if they have anything they would like to add.
I don't mean to be a pain in the ass but I see in your pictures you smoke cigars. I being an avid cigar smoker would like to know what cigars you like?
That picture was taken at our drummer's wedding (he's the one with the big grin on his face) and the stogies are only Swisher Sweets. (?) That's the only time I've seen anybody in the band smoking a stogie. Sorry to disappoint.
Thanks for writing!

How can I order an Ocean Mind cd???
Ocean Mind can be ordered at any cd store that will order out of stock CD's (or CD's they just don't carry). OM can also be ordered online at online CD stores (musicblvd, columbia house, bmg, cdnow etc.), or you can go to the "merchandise" section of our page and get in touch with us to order it there as well.
Thanks for the question!

Hey Dan , Do you know that you look like John Travolta ? Guess who ?
Yes, I am quite the phenomenon... Dan
When are you guys going to do a video?
At this point we have no plans to do a video. The demand for our music is just not high enough for the label to justify spending money on a video that will never get played. We have a bootleg of our CD release party for Horizons with footage of our recording adventures, but that was from several years ago and not indicative of our music today. It is unfortunate that people aren't a bit more open minded about what music they will listen to, otherwise bands like us would get a shot to make a video and even get into mainstream music station rotations...
Jay
Hey! I heard your music in Danbury on the Fates tour for the first time, and I enjoyed the set! I bought Horizons at the show, and Ocean Mind 3 days later. Since you guys are so close to Boston, have you guys done many shows here in Boston? If not, do so! There are quite a few of us here who enjoy your music! Catch you at the Weymouth show!
Keep the faith! -jeremy
PS You guys are in my top 3 for best albums of 1997!
1. Savatage-Wake of Magellan
2. Fates -APSOG
3. Divine Regale-Oceam Mind
4. Dream Theater-FII
5. Stratovarius-Visions

We've had several unsuccessfull shows in the boston area (Club Three in Somerville). It's hard for us to get shows, most of the clubs are looking for more mainstream acts. We've had our best luck opening shows for larger acts such as Fates Warning and Dream Theatre (DT was 5 years ago).
We appreciate your support and the support of anyone who's into this style of music. Please come say hi to us at the Weymouth show!
Thanks!
Jason

Hi Joel! This is Jason from Divine Regale, here to finally answer your question we received through our webpage. Sorry for the wait for this response, but it took me some time to round everyone up and get an answer. Basically, our musical upbringing has been very different for each member...
Dan and Frank are mainly self taught. They've trained mostly by learning songs off of various albums and letting that influence their playing and writing.
Dwight has been singing for many years. He was in several Massachusetts based bands before joining DR in 1992. Since joining the band Dwight has studied 2 years with Sebastian Lima, where his studies focused mainly on Classical, opera based music. After that he spent 6 months studying a natural singing approach with Mark Baxter. These lessons ended due to being too expensive.
Chris started playing bass and guitar. He picked up the drums several years ago. Chris says: "I took about 5 or 6 drum lessons right before we recorded Horizons. I would like to study more, but I have a lot of bad habits to break."
Gary has played guitar for many years, starting when he was young. Gary has had many different teachers, "but only one really stands out: Steve Canty, a great player." Gary is studying Music Business at UMASS Lowell where he's had "1 semester of classical guitar study, 3 years of jazz guitar study, theory and all that music school crap."
I started classical piano lessons when I was nine with Jeannie Goodwin (the local piano teacher). When I started high school, I stopped the classical lessons and studied piano with Ron Curcio, where I got into jazz, theory, synthesis and lots of other cool stuff. At UNH I graduated with a minor in music, so I studied ear training, theory, history and several other classes. I also spent a year studying classical piano with Paul Verrette (now retired). Once I get back from the Fates tour I really want to start lessons again, since I still feel I have a lot to learn.
Hope that answers your question, once again sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
Jason and DR
